An elephant seen head-on is almost perfectly symmetrical, and this drawing uses that: the pattern on the left ear has a twin on the right, and so does everything down the centre of the face. A child who colours one side and then the other is doing real visual-memory work — holding a pattern in mind long enough to reproduce it — and the page makes any drift obvious without an adult having to point it out.
The patterns themselves are paisley and floral rather than anything an elephant actually has, which is deliberate. It frees the child from getting the animal right and turns the ears into two large decorated fields to design. Grey is not required anywhere on this page, and saying so out loud usually changes what a child reaches for.
It is also one of the more forgiving sheets in this set. The shapes inside the ears are medium-sized rather than tiny, so a child who is not yet ready for the density of the peacock or the wolf can still finish something that looks intricate.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Mirror the two ears. Colour a shape on the left, then find its twin on the right. Working in pairs is what keeps the symmetry and is the whole point of a symmetrical drawing.
- Ignore what colour elephants are. The patterns are decorative, so any palette works. Deciding that explicitly at the start tends to unlock much bolder colour choices.
- Use the jungle background as a break. The palms and leaves are large and quick — somewhere to go whenever the small patterned shapes stop being fun.
