Unicorns are the most-requested subject in this whole library and, until now, every unicorn on the site was drawn for a four-year-old. A child of eight who still loves unicorns has nowhere to go with those sheets. This one keeps the subject and raises the difficulty: the mane is built from dozens of separate swirls, and the whole head sits inside a wreath of stars and flowers.
The mane is the real work. Each swirl is a long curved shape that has to be followed without crossing into its neighbour, which demands a slower and steadier hand than any small round shape does. It is the same control handwriting needs at this age, practised for twenty minutes without anyone calling it practice.
The wreath around the head does something different: it is a ring of small, repeating, forgiving shapes. After a long stretch on the mane, a child can drop into the stars and flowers and keep going without having to concentrate as hard. Pages that offer both kinds of work get finished; pages that offer only one usually do not.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Colour the mane one swirl at a time. Root to tip, without lifting the pencil. Trying to fill the mane as a single mass loses the pattern that makes the drawing worth colouring.
- Pick three colours for the mane before starting. Repeating a small palette across the swirls reads as a rainbow mane; using a different colour for every swirl reads as noise.
- Save the star wreath for last. It is the easy, satisfying part — the reward after the slow work, and the place to try metallics or glitter pens if they have them.
