Dump Truck Coloring Page

Ages 2-7 Printable PDF

About This Coloring Page

After the digger, the dump truck is the vehicle every construction-site child names next, because it is the one that does something you can watch: the bed goes up, the load goes out. This page catches it mid-tip, with the rocks pouring out the back, so the picture already has an action in it before any colour goes on.

The truck is mostly big simple shapes, which suits the age that loves it most. The cab is a box with a window, the bed is a bigger box with panels on the side, and the wheels are circles inside circles. The panels along the bed are the careful part — tall rectangles in a row, each with two edges to stay between.

The pile of rocks is a counting page hiding in a truck page. Dozens of small round shapes, every one different, and a child who sets out to colour each one a different colour will be busy for a long while. The small traffic cone beside the truck is there for the child who finishes early.

How to Use This Coloring Page

  1. Start with the wheels. Circles inside circles: tyre, hub, centre. Three rings, three chances to follow a curve.
  2. Do the side panels one at a time. Tall rectangles in a row. Staying between two close edges is handwriting control in disguise.
  3. Count the rocks as you colour them. One touch, one number, one colour. Nobody has ever finished counting the rocks, and that is fine.
