A pig is one of the first animals a child can name, make the sound of, and draw themselves, and the site had it only inside a farm pack. This is the pig on its own, doing the thing every child knows pigs do: sitting in the mud, entirely pleased about it. The joke does not need explaining, which is the best kind of joke for a two-year-old.
It is drawn round on purpose. A pig is a circle for the body, a smaller circle for the snout, two triangles for the ears and a curl for the tail, and a child who colours this page has traced every one of those shapes with a crayon. The snout and the two nostrils are the small precise part; the body is the big easy one.
The mud puddle is the loose ending — a wide splodge under the pig with no inside edge worth worrying about — and it also settles the colour question. Pigs are pink in books and grey-brown in real life and neither is wrong here. Mud is brown. That much is agreed, and it is usually the only thing that is.
