Hot Cocoa Coloring Page

Ages 2-6 Printable PDF

About This Coloring Page

Hot cocoa is the drink that means it is cold outside and nobody minds. On the page it is one big mug, a swirl of cream climbing out of the top, and three marshmallows sitting on the swirl, each with a face, so the first thing a child does is count them and the second is pick a favourite.

The mug is the biggest closed shape on the page, wide open for a two-year-old to fill in one colour, and the swirl above it is a stack of narrow bands for an older child who wants to take turns with two crayons. The steam is three wavy lines that go wherever the child says they go, and the candy cane on the rim is the one striped thing to do last.

Ask what they would put on top of theirs, and how many marshmallows is too many. The answer is never, and the page becomes the mug they are going to ask for as soon as the crayons are put away.

How to Use This Coloring Page

  1. Count the marshmallows first. Three, each with a face. Give each one a different colour, or the same; saying which is the plan.
  2. Fill the mug in one go. One big shape, one colour, all the way round. Finish it first so the page already looks like cocoa.
  3. Do the swirl and the steam last. Bands on the swirl, wavy lines for the steam. The steam can be any colour at all; steam does not mind.
