Igloo Coloring Page
About This Coloring Page
An igloo is the one house a small child can draw from memory, because it is nothing but blocks: the same rounded brick, stacked in rows that get shorter until they close over the top. The page draws it that way, big and in the middle, with the tunnel door at the front and a small penguin in a scarf standing outside it.
Every block is its own little shape, so a toddler fills them one at a time with a different colour each and ends up with a patchwork igloo, while an older child counts the blocks in one row and checks the row above has fewer. The sky above and the snow below are wide open areas for a child who wants to cover paper.
Ask who lives inside and whether it is cold in there. The answer most children give, that it is warm because the snow keeps the wind out, is true, and the page becomes the house they want to build in the garden the next time it snows.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Count the blocks on the bottom row. Touch each one. Then count the row above and notice there are fewer; that is how a dome works.
- Give every block its own colour. Or every other block, which makes a pattern. Both come out looking like a house.
- Do the penguin and the sun last. Two small shapes with faces. Ask whether the penguin is going in or coming out.
