Parrot Coloring Page

Ages 2-7 Printable PDF

About This Coloring Page

The parrot is the bird that talks, which is the one fact every child knows about it, and the page draws it sitting still for once: a friendly parrot with a big curved beak perched on a branch, long tail feathers hanging down, two big leaves beside it, a few clouds above and small flowers below.

The body is one big rounded shape for a toddler to fill, the beak is the new shape on the shelf, a thick curve that hooks down, and the wing and tail feathers are rows of curved lines to follow one at a time. The two big leaves are wide shapes with a vein down the middle, the same stroke as the snail's leaf on the page next door.

Ask what the parrot would say if it could talk to you, and let the child answer in the parrot's voice. The page becomes a conversation before the first crayon comes out.

How to Use This Coloring Page

  1. Fill the body first. One big rounded shape, one colour. Head and body the same so it reads as one bird.
  2. Beak and eye next. The thick hooked curve, then the round eye. Ask what the beak is for.
  3. Feathers, leaves and branch last. Follow the curved lines on the wing one at a time. Then the two leaves, then the branch it sits on.
