Skis Coloring Page
About This Coloring Page
Skis are two long sticks you stand on and two shorter ones you hold, which is exactly how a child describes them and exactly how the page draws them: a child in a warm hat and goggles sliding down a gentle slope, skis pointing the way, poles out to the sides, fir trees watching from the edge.
The jacket and the hill are the two big areas for broad strokes, and the skis and poles are the lines: long straight strokes to follow from one end to the other without wobbling, which is the same control a child needs for the first letters. The trees are triangles stacked up, and the snowflakes are the small things to do last.
Ask which way the skis are pointing and where the child will end up. Then draw the track the skis leave down the hill together, which is a pair of parallel lines and a story about going fast.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Trace the skis first. Two long straight lines, end to end, with one finger and then a crayon. Then the two poles.
- Fill the jacket and the hill. Two big shapes. The hill can stay white; snow is allowed to be white.
- Draw the track down the hill. Two lines side by side, all the way to the bottom of the page. Ask how fast they were going.
