Sled Coloring Page
About This Coloring Page
The sled is the winter vehicle, the one with no wheels and no engine, and every child who has been down a hill on one knows exactly how it feels. That is what the page draws: the sled already moving, the rider holding on, and the hill it came down still there behind it.
The sled itself is a few long straight planks, each one a narrow band to stay inside, and the runners underneath are the long curved lines. The rider's hat and scarf are the small shapes that take the colour, and the hill behind is one big open area for a child who wants to cover paper.
Ask what happens at the bottom of the hill, and whether the sled goes back up by itself. It does not. Someone has to pull it, and a four-year-old will tell you who, which turns the page into a story about the afternoon.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Colour the planks one at a time. Long narrow bands, side by side. Stay inside each one; it is the same control as writing on a line.
- Do the hat and scarf next. Two small shapes that take two colours. Stripe the scarf if the crayon is sharp enough.
- Ask who pulls it back up. The sled only goes one way. The answer is usually a parent, and the child knows it.
