Snowflake Coloring Page
About This Coloring Page
A snowflake is the winter shape that is also a counting page. There are six arms, always six, and each one is the same as the one before it, so the first thing to do is count them with a finger and the second is to notice that they match. A child who spots that has found a pattern without anyone using the word.
The arms are thick enough for a toddler to fill and the little branches off each one are small enough to need care, so the page works at both ends. The space between the arms is wide open, and that is where the big crayon goes for a child who wants to cover paper.
It is also the one winter page where the answer to what colour is it is genuinely anything. Snow is white, but a snowflake on a page can be any colour at all, and deciding that out loud is the first real choice on the page.

How to Use This Coloring Page
- Count the arms first. Touch each one, one to six. Then count the branches on one arm and check the next arm has the same.
- Do one arm at a time, all the way to the tip. Each arm is one straight line with small branches. Follow it out from the middle; it is a letter stroke without the letter.
- Pick a colour for the spaces between. Six open spaces, one each or all the same. If every other one matches, that is a pattern.
