Ocean animals sit in a useful middle ground: the creatures are familiar enough to be motivating, but the words are long enough to be real spelling practice. It is the bridge sheet between the easy puzzles and the harder ones.
The grid is medium-sized with diagonal placements. A six-year-old will likely want company; an eight-year-old should manage it alone.

How to Use This Worksheet
- Sort the word bank by length first. Long words are easier to spot in a grid than short ones. Starting with the longest is a genuinely useful strategy to teach.
- Watch for words inside words. Letters overlap in a grid, and near-misses are common. Checking a find letter by letter is part of the discipline.
- Ask which ones they have seen. Aquarium, beach, television -- connecting each animal to a memory gives the vocabulary somewhere to live.
- Draw the strangest one. Whichever creature they know least about, look it up and draw it. The puzzle becomes the start of the activity rather than the end.
